The MacBook Pro 15-inch A1260 Early 2008 is a pre-unibody model with the classic silver aluminium enclosure, removable battery, and front-latch closure. Available with a 2.4GHz or 2.5GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, it features a 15.4-inch 1440x900 WXGA+ TFT active-matrix display with LED backlighting, NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT discrete graphics with 256MB VRAM, and 2GB DDR2 RAM upgradeable to 4GB. The 200GB or 250GB mechanical hard drives are extremely failure-prone after nearly two decades and should be treated as ticking time bombs for data loss. The NVIDIA 8600M GT GPU is affected by the well-documented manufacturing defect causing solder bump degradation under thermal stress, leading to graphical artefacts, display corruption, and complete GPU failure. Apple's extended repair programme for this defect has long since expired. The removable battery design means replacement cells are still available from third-party suppliers.
