The MacBook Pro 15-inch A1286 Late 2008 was the very first unibody MacBook Pro, marking Apple's shift to the aluminium unibody enclosure machined from a single block of metal. Available with a 2.4GHz or 2.53GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, it features a 15.4-inch 1440x900 LED-backlit glossy display and dual NVIDIA graphics - a GeForce 9600M GT with 256MB VRAM and a GeForce 9400M for power saving. It shipped with 2GB or 4GB DDR3 RAM, upgradeable to 8GB. The 250GB or 320GB mechanical hard drives in these machines are extremely failure-prone after nearly two decades of potential use, making data recovery a critical service. The NVIDIA 9600M GT is known for developing solder fatigue leading to graphical artefacts and kernel panics. Battery cells are invariably depleted, and the original MagSafe 1 charging board can develop loose connections.
