// WHY BUY FROM US
How We Find the Right Charger
Using the wrong charger can mean slow charging or damage. We make sure you get the exact right one.
Exact Match
We check your laptop model and confirm the correct wattage and connector type. Different laptops need different voltages. We eliminate the guesswork entirely.
Tested Before You Leave
We plug the charger into your laptop in-store and verify it charges correctly. You walk out knowing it works, not hoping it will.
Much Less Than Manufacturer Price
Replacement chargers from Dell, HP, or Apple direct cost a fortune. Our quality alternatives deliver the same performance at a fraction of the price.

Why Wattage Matters
Every laptop is designed to draw a certain amount of power. A lightweight ultrabook might need only 45W, while a gaming laptop or 16-inch MacBook Pro might require 130W or more. Using a charger with too low a wattage means your laptop charges painfully slowly. Or drains faster than it charges when under heavy load.
Using a higher-wattage charger than required is generally fine. Your laptop will only draw what it needs. But using a significantly lower-wattage charger can mean your laptop never fully charges, or overheats the charger trying to push more current than it is designed to handle.
This is one of the reasons we recommend coming in rather than guessing online. We will check your laptop model, confirm the correct wattage, and hand you a charger that is guaranteed to work properly. No guesswork, no compatibility worries, no returns.
Universal Adapters & USB-C Chargers
If you have got multiple laptops in the house. Or you want one charger that works for your laptop and your phone. A USB-C power delivery charger might be the answer. Modern USB-C chargers with Power Delivery (PD) can negotiate the right voltage and wattage automatically, charging everything from a phone at 20W to a MacBook Pro at 96W from the same plug.
We also stock universal laptop chargers with interchangeable tips for older laptops that still use proprietary barrel connectors. These come with a selection of tips that fit Dell, HP, Lenovo, Asus, Acer, Toshiba, and Samsung models. They are especially handy if you have several older laptops or if your specific model’s original charger is discontinued.
A word of caution: some universal chargers sold online are poor quality and can damage your laptop. The ones we stock are properly certified and voltage-regulated. We test them to make sure they deliver the correct power to your specific laptop before you leave the shop.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know which charger my laptop needs?
The easiest way is to bring your laptop in and we will identify it for you. If you cannot bring it in, check the bottom of your laptop for the model number (e.g., “Dell Inspiron 15 5510” or “HP Pavilion x360”) and call us on 01334 478866. We will confirm what charger you need and whether we have it in stock before you make the trip.
Can I use a USB-C charger for my laptop?
Only if your laptop supports USB-C charging. Most laptops made after 2018 do, but some still use proprietary barrel connectors. Look for a USB-C port on your laptop with a small battery icon or lightning bolt next to it. That indicates it accepts USB-C charging. If in doubt, bring it in and we will check.
My laptop charger gets really hot. Is that normal?
Slight warmth is normal, but if your charger is too hot to hold comfortably, that is a warning sign. It could mean the charger is failing, the wattage is too low for your laptop, or there is an internal fault. Stop using it and bring it in. We can test it and replace it if needed. Using a faulty charger risks damaging your laptop’s battery and, in rare cases, can be a fire hazard.
Do you repair laptop chargers or just sell replacements?
We sell replacements. Laptop chargers contain sealed, high-voltage components that are not designed to be repaired. It is safer and more cost-effective to replace them. The good news is that replacement chargers are very affordable compared to buying through the laptop manufacturer directly.
My laptop won't charge even with a new charger. What's wrong?
If a known-good charger still will not charge your laptop, the problem might be with the laptop’s charging port, battery, or power management circuit. Bring the laptop in and we will diagnose it for free. We repair laptop batteries and charging faults regularly. It is often a straightforward fix.
Can I use a higher-wattage charger than my laptop requires?
Generally yes. Your laptop will only draw the power it needs, so a 96W charger will safely charge a laptop that only requires 65W. However, a lower-wattage charger than required can mean painfully slow charging or the laptop draining faster than it charges under heavy load. We always match the correct minimum wattage for your model.
Do you stock chargers for Chromebooks?
Most modern Chromebooks charge via USB-C, and we stock USB-C chargers in various wattages. Bring your Chromebook in or tell us the model and we will confirm the right charger. Some older Chromebooks use proprietary connectors. We can usually source those too.
My old charger cable is fraying near the plug. Should I keep using it?
No. A fraying cable is a sign the internal wires are exposed or close to breaking. This can cause intermittent charging, electrical shorts, or in rare cases a fire hazard. Stop using it and bring it in. A replacement charger is inexpensive and much safer.
